Snorkeling with bowhead whales
This trip is specially designed for nature lovers, photographers and freedivers! Every day we will get our chance to get into the water with the ellusive bowhead whales.
We will be based in a comfortable wooden houses on the shore of Sea of Okhotsk.
The camp is based on the best site for bowhead whales. Everyday we will try to snorkel with these giants using paddle boards.
We will also use speedboats for day trips observing orcas, seals and other marine mammals which can be also spotted in this area.
You love whales and dream to swim with them? Take underwater pictures? Just love big animals? This trip is for you!
Itinerary
Day 1
Departure from Khabarovsk. Day-long transfer with an overnight stay at a campsite in tents at the bank of Amgun river.
Day 2
Transfer to Nikolay bay. Speed boat transfer to the Wrangel bay. Check in to the lodges.
Days 3-12
Approaching whales on paddle boards and freediving with the whales for those willing to get as close as they can. Cruising around Shantar islands and local bays. Trekking around the islands.Tours around the tourist sights of the Okhotsk sea near Nikolay bay and Wrangel bay. Observing bowhead whales, orcas, seals, spawning salmon and most likely even bears.
Day 13
Speed boat transfer to Nikolay bay. Transfer to the Amgun river with an overnight stay at a campsite in tents.
Day 14
Transfer back to Khabarovsk.
Day 15
Daperture from Khabarovsk.
The itinerary is designed for favorable weather conditions and might require adjustment due to changes of the latter. Also it might get adjusted in accordance with the physical fitness of the group members.

- Water temperature from +4С to +8С, surface temperature from +10С to +25С
- There is little or no mobile coverage in the area. We recommend you to bring your own satellite phone. If you don't have one, the crew can provide you with satellite connection (expenditures not included).
